About Indian Mounds Camp: Indian Mounds Camp is one of Oklahoma’s best-kept secrets hidden among the heart of the Kiamichi Mountains with 983,000 acres of hickory, oak, and pine trees for riding and hiking enjoyment. Indian Mounds Camp is built on the site of an ancient Indian village. Impressions of hand-patted tipi mounds, which can be seen throughout the camp, are what remain of the village. **Rates for 2008 Daily rates are $7 per person camp fee over age 12. Electrical hook-ups are available for $10 per day per hook-up. Corrals are available for rent for $5 per horse per day. Barn stalls available for $15 per horse daily. Rent horses are $20 per hour or $75 per day. Campers available for rental. (Camper rental rates do not include camp fee.) There are plenty of shady camping areas—both primitive and with electrical hook-ups. We have room for tents, RV’s, campers, and horse trailers. A 40’ by 120’ pavilion and bath house (with restrooms and hot showers) are conveniently located in camp. We are the perfect area for a family vacation. Indian Mounds Camp is easily accessible on all-weather roads and is close to area restaurants and grocery stores in nearby Clayton, Oklahoma. Centrally located near area lakes and rivers at the foot of the Kiamichi Mountains, the spectacular scenery offers nature-lovers and photography buffs the perfect opportunity to enjoy the plentiful wildlife and beautiful wooded acreages of K Country. The Kiamichi Mountains are full of deer, turkey, rabbits, squirrels, and quail. Freshwater mountain springs can be found along the way. Hikers and horse riders will enjoy the breathtaking views the trails have to offer. Bass and catfish and crappie are plentiful in the surrounding Clayton and Sardis Lakes as well as the Kiamichi River, located just minutes from camp. Ride to Dennis Rock and climb to the top (at 1485 feet elevation) for a panoramic view of Clayton and Sardis Lake or ride to McKinley Rock (at 2085 feet elevation) for a magnificent view of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Stand in the spot President McKinley did years ago and take in the natural beauty of the mountains. The quiet beauty that surrounds Indian Mounds Camp makes it a welcomed refuge from stresses of daily life. We are open year round for your riding and camping pleasure. Indian Mounds Camp is also available for family reunions, wedding receptions, arts and crafts festivals, church outings, retreats, and more! Come anytime and enjoy a weekend getaway.
